Drodzy przyjaciele!

 
W tę środę wieczorem, 8. października, rozpoczyna się jedno z moich ulubionych świąt – Święto Namiotów:
 
Lecz piętnastego dnia siódmego miesiąca, gdy zbierzecie plony ziemi, obchodzić będziecie święto Pana przez siedem dni. W pierwszym dniu będzie całkowity odpoczynek i w ósmym dniu będzie całkowity odpoczynek. W pierwszym dniu weźmiecie sobie owocu ze szlachetnych drzew, gałązki palmowe, gałązki z drzew rozłożystych i z wierzby znad potoku i będziecie się weselić przed Panem, Bogiem waszym, przez siedem dni. Będziecie je uroczyście obchodzić jako święto Pana przez siedem dni co rok. Jest to wieczna ustawa dla waszych pokoleń. W siódmym miesiącu będziecie je 
obchodzić, będziecie mieszkać w szałasach przez siedem dni. Wszyscy krajowcy w Izraelu mieszkać będą w szałasach,aby wiedziały wasze przyszłe pokolenia, że w szałasach kazałem mieszkać synom izraelskim, gdy wyprowadziłem ich z ziemi egipskiej. Ja, Pan, jestem Bogiem waszym(III ks. Mojżeszowa 23; 39-43).
 
Święta Pana zabierają nas każdego roku w cykl pokuty i oczyszczenia. W Jom Kippur (miniona sobota, 4. października) wspominaliśmy, że pełne pojednanie możliwe jest przez krew Jezusa. Alleluja! Pięć dni później mamy Sukkot – Święto Namiotów; czas, by świętować to, że Bóg mieszka pośród nas i w nas. Jakiego wspaniałego mamy Boga, który nakazuje nam weselić się w Jego obecności przez siedem dni! Dlatego budujemy kuczki, wymachujemy gałązkami drzew, śpiewamy pieśni chwały, jemy, radujemy się i świętujemy to, że mamy Boga, który przybrał postać ciała i zamieszkał pośród nas (Ew. św. Jana 1;14) i który przyjdzie 
wkrótce, by zamieszkać z nami na zawsze (Obj. 21;3). Niech będzie to czas, w którym ponownie poczujemy się obezwładnieni tym, że Bóg pragnie być z nami. Módlmy się, aby Polacy zaprosili Go, by przyszedł i zamieszkał w ich sercach.

Dear friends, 

One of my favorite holidays begins this Wednesday evening, Oct. 8 -- the Feast of Tabernacles:

‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath rest. And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.’” (Leviticus 23:39-43)

The feasts of the Lord take us each year through a cycle of repentance and cleansing. On Yom Kippur (last Saturday, Oct. 4) we were reminded that our atonement is complete through the blood of Jesus. Hallelujah! And five days later comes Sukkot -- the Feast of Tabernacles -- a time to celebrate that God dwells with us and in us. What an amazing God who commands us to rejoice in His presence for seven days! So we build the sukkah, wave the branches, sing songs of praise, eat and rejoice, and celebrate the God who took on flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14), and who is coming soon to live with us forever (Rev. 21:3).  May this be a season when we are once again overwhelmed by the reality that God longs to be with us. Let us pray that the Polish people will welcome Him to come and live in their hearts.
