Drodzy przyjaciele!



Mur Berliński wniesiono niemalże z dnia na dzień 12-13. sierpnia 1961 roku i stanowił on budzącą grozę granicę między Berlinem Wschodnim a zachodnim światem. Dokładnie 25 lat temu, 9. listopada 1989 roku, nieoczekiwanie otworzono punkty kontrolne i zaczęto burzyć mur. Był to niewiarygodny czas – cud, który stanowił znak upadku komunistycznego reżimu. W tym tygodniu ponad milion osób zgromadziło się w Berlinie, by świętować 25. rocznicę tego 
niesamowitego wydarzenia.

Kiedy cieszymy się tym, że Mur Berliński jest już tylko historią, istnieją inne mury, które wciąż stoją: mury strachu, gniewu, wstydu i żalu, które trzymają w niewoli ludzkie serca; mury, które zostały wzniesione podczas lat cierpienia i ucisku, które blokują dostęp światła nadziei dla całego społeczeństwa; mury religijnych tradycji i duchowej dumy, które hamują działanie Ducha Bożego. Te i inne mury obalić może tylko Boża moc. 
Módlmy się gorliwie, aby Bóg zburzył mury w polskim społeczeństwie. On jest w stanie w jednej chwili przełamać bariery, które zdają się nieprzeniknione. Módlmy się, pokładając ufność, że w swoim czasie i zgodnie ze swoją mądrością, zburzy On wszelkie przeszkody, które stoją na drodze Jego miłości, z którą chce dotrzeć do serc Polaków.
 
Niechaj wysławiają Pana za łaskę jego i za cuda jego dla synów ludzkich! Ponieważ skruszył bramy spiżowe i połamał zasuwy żelazne (Psalm 107; 15-16)

Dear friends,

Built almost overnight on August 12-13, 1961, it stood as a formidable barrier between East Berlin and the Western world -- the Berlin Wall. It was exactly twenty-five years ago on November 9, 1989, that the checkpoints were suddenly opened and the wall began to come down.  It was an unbelievable time -- a "miracle" that signaled the collapse of the Communist regime. This weekend more than a million people have gathered in Berlin to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this monumental event.

While we rejoice that the Berlin Wall is now history, there are walls that still stand today...
... walls of fear, anger, shame, and regret that hold captive the hearts of men and women 
... walls created from years of suffering and oppression that block the light of hope from an entire society  
... walls of religious tradition and spiritual pride that hinder the move of God's Spirit. 
These walls and others only come down through the power of God. Let us pray fervently that God will break through the walls in Polish society. He is able "in a moment" to break through barriers that seem impenetrable. Let us pray, trusting that in His time and according to His wisdom, He will tear down any obstacles that stand in the way of His love reaching the hearts of the Polish people. 

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two. (Psalm 107:15-16).
