Drodzy przyjaciele!



W minionym tygodniu miałam możliwość spędzić kilka dni w Ohio z moją mamą.  Ma
ona 87 lat i mieszka sama. Znajduje się w początkowej fazie demencji i
zapomina coraz więcej rzeczy. Nie pamięta tego, co wydarzyło się 5 minut
wcześniej. Mimo to jest pogodna i cieszy się życiem, za co jestem wdzięczna.



Rozmyślałam o pamięci i o tym, jaką ma moc. Niektóre wspomnienia są dobre,
inne – złe. Wielu z nas chciałoby zapomnieć o pewnych wstydliwych rzeczach,
które uczyniliśmy w przeszłości. Jeśli nie zachowamy czujności, możemy
pozwolić, by przeszłość definiowała to, kim jesteśmy teraz. Jestem
wdzięczna Bogu za Jego przebaczenie i że uwalnia nas od oskarżających myśli.



Mimo że nie mamy rozpamiętywać grzechów przeszłości, Bóg poucza nas, abyśmy
pamiętali o wielu dobrych rzeczach. Oto kilka z nich:



1)  *Pamiętajmy*, kim byliśmy, zanim spotkaliśmy Jezusa i o cudzie, który
uczynił w naszym życiu.

*Przeto pamiętajcie o tym, że wy, niegdyś poganie w ciele, nazywani
nieobrzezanymi przez tych, których nazywają obrzezanymi na skutek obrzezki,
dokonanej ręką na ciele, byliście w tym czasie bez Chrystusa, dalecy od
społeczności izraelskiej i obcy przymierzom, zawierającym obietnicę, nie
mający nadziei i bez Boga na świecie. Ale teraz wy, którzy niegdyś byliście
dalecy, staliście się w Chrystusie Jezusie bliscy przez krew Chrystusową.*
(Ef.  2;11-13)

2)  *Pamiętajmy* o ofierze, którą Jezus złożył za nas na krzyżu.

*A podziękowawszy, złamał i rzekł: Bierzcie, jedzcie, to jest ciało moje za
was wydane; to czyńcie na pamiątkę moją. Podobnie i kielich po wieczerzy,
mówiąc: Ten kielich to nowe przymierze we krwi mojej; to czyńcie, ilekroć
pić będziecie, na pamiątkę moją.* (I Kor. 11;24-24)

3)  *Pamiętajmy*, że Jezus żyje. On jest zmartwychwstałych Królem i Panem!

*Miej w pamięci Jezusa Chrystusa, który został wskrzeszony z martwych, jest
z rodu Dawidowego, według mojej ewangelii.* (II Tym. 2;8)

4)  *Pamiętajmy* o Bożej wielkości i wierności.

*Wspominam dzieła Pańskie, zaiste, wspominam twoje dawne cuda.* (Ps. 77;12)

5)  *Pamiętajmy* o innych wierzących i módlmy się o nich.

*Dziękuję Bogu, któremu z czystym sumieniem służę, tak jak przodkowie moi,
gdy nieustannie ciebie wspominam w modlitwach moich, we dnie i w nocy.* (II
Tym. 1;3)

6)  *Pamiętajmy*, by troszczyć się o ubogich.

*Mieliśmy tylko pamiętać o ubogich, czym się też gorliwie zająłem i co
starałem się wykonać.* (Gal. 2;10)

7)  *Pamiętajmy* o tych, którzy są prześladowani z powodu swojej wiary w
Jezusa.

*Pamiętajcie o więźniach, jakbyście współwięźniami byli, o uciskanych,
skoro sami również w ciele jesteście. *(Hebr. 13;3)

8)  *Pamiętajmy*, że Jezus powróci w mocy i chwale. Razem będziemy wiecznie
Go uwielbiać!



*Wspomną i nawrócą się do Pana wszystkie krańce ziemi, I pokłonią się przed
nim wszystkie rodziny pogan.* (Ps. 22;28)

Dear friends,

This past week I was able to spend several days with my mother in Ohio. She
is 87 years old and lives alone. She is in the early stages of dementia and
is more and more forgetful. She can't remember what happened just five
minutes ago. Still, she laughs and enjoys life and I am thankful for that.

I have been thinking about memory and what a powerful thing it is. Some
memories are good and and some are bad. Many of us wish we could forget the
shameful things we have done in the past. If we are not careful, we can
allow the past to define who we are today. I am thankful to God for His
forgiveness and that he sets us free from those accusing thoughts.

Although we are not to dwell on the sins of the past, God does instruct us
to "remember" many good things. Here are just a few:

1) *Remember* who we were before we met Jesus and the miracle He has worked
in our lives.

*Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called
Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by
hands - that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having
no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once
were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians
2:11-13)*
*2) **Remember* the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross.

*And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My
body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same
manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new
covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of
Me.” (I Corinthians 11:24-25)*

3) *Remember* that Jesus is alive -- He is the resurrected Lord and King!

*Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead
according to my gospel. (II Timothy 2:8)*

4) *Remember* the greatness and faithfulness of God.


*I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders
of old. (Psalm 77:11)*

5) *Remember* fellow believers and pray for them.


*I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience,
as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers
night and day. (II Timothy 1:3)*

6) *Remember* to care for the poor

*They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I
also was eager to do. (Galatians 2:10)*

7) *Remember* those who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus

*Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are
mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also. (Hebrews 13:3)*

8) *Remember* that Jesus is coming again in power and glory. Together we
will worship Him forever!


*All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, And all the
families of the nations shall worship before You. (Ps. 22:27)*
